Cool Google Suggest feature
January 1st, 2007 | by Tim Wilson |I was doing a quick Google search recently using the built-in search of Firefox 2.0. I don’t remember the search query exactly, but it had some numbers in it and I noticed that Google Suggest was operating in calculator mode. How cool! I did some more playing with it and found that the unit conversations work too. (For a blast from the past check out one of my first blog posts which happens to describe Google’s calculator feature.)
I believe this requires Firefox 2.×.

Not to mention that you can use it to convert currency rates for countries and you can use it to define words. Going on a whim here saying for the currency exchange it looks similar to this (20 USD in Euro). For the definition just simply type (Define: ‘term’).
One thing that I’ve loved is setting my personalized google start page. 2 features I’ve added is the Buddhist thought of the day. My classes will be studying all the old Western Religions here in the next few months so this will be very helpful. Also, the Japanese word of the day is nice too.

Quite funny… I remember learning about that before, probably from your earlier post.
I tried gills and pecks and though Google did not give me the calculations, it suggested web pages where I got to tour to remind me of my early elementary school days (mid 50s to early 60s) where I had to memorize this stuff.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
