Joe Lambert: Digital Storytelling, Part 1
March 14th, 2006 | by Tim Wilson |Working on the 1-to-1 computing project in my school district has really opened my eyes to the power of storytelling as a learning activity. I’m delighted to present the first in my podcast series on digital storytelling. My guest is Joe Lambert, founder and director of the Center for Digital Storytelling. Joe does a great job of setting the stage for the rest of the series by laying out some of the “big picture” ideas.
Perhaps you’ll listen and think of a few questions that you’d like to ask. If so, feel free to email text or audio questions to savvytechnologistpodcast@gmail.com. I’ll work as many as I can into future episodes.

Tim,
I’ve been enjoying your podcasts and especially this one with Joe Lambert. Very interesting and I’m sure teachers will get some good ideas about digital storytelling from this. I’m going to include it in the course materials in my class next quarter on Literacy and Technology. I first met Joe in 1993 at “Joe’s Digital Diner” in San Francisco and had the chance to work with him a little bit when he helped get the Digital Clubhouse started in Silicon Valley.

Tim,
As usual, a great job! You bring so much topical information to educators who believe that we must do a better job of connecting with 21st century learners, it should be no surprise that you’ve done this great interview with Joe Lambert. And you’re right, digital storytelling is a “hot topic.” Last year at MIT, there was a wonderful conference on the power of storytelling (digital, and otherwise) and this year at SITE, there are nearly 30 presentations on digital storytelling.
So, you present a wonderful interview on this topic at at key time.
Thanks,
Mike

When is the rest of this coming ? I can’t wait. I worked with Joe lambert and emily paulhos (?) from the center for digital storytelling last summer at the National Gallery of Art’s Summer Institute, “visual arts and digital storytelling.” it was amazing. Now we are doing an inservice in my district and can’t wait for the rest of the podcasts.
