Blog on the move

I’ve been hosting The Savvy Technologist on my own server in my basement for quite a while now. (Don’t tell Comcast.) But the time has come to move to a new host with a speedier upstream Internet connection. With any luck the transition will go smoothly and no one will notice. *fingers crossed*

  1. Tim,

Details please! What host? I’m always looking for good, cheap Web hosts to recommend to friends. And I can relate to your situation. Braimee.com eventually got so much traffic that it now takes two dedicated boxes to serve it up. Er wait…that’s the dream I had last night. Nevermind.

  2. I signed up with VizaWeb (http://vizaweb.com/). They’re a local company actually (not that it matters all that much). Their prices are really low and they seem to offer reasonable bandwidth limits too. Tech support seems fine at this point, but I’ll know more about that once I dig in a little more.

  3. Just to chime in, I’m a huge fan of Bluehost. I’ve moved my own site to them and reccomended them to several other people, every one of which has been thrilled with it. Great featuers, high bandwidth, and incredible tech support. 6 bucks a month.

Highly reccomend you check them out. I have a referal link on teach42.com which gives me a kickback if you sign up, but regardless of whether you go through my site or not they’re really worth a look over.
