Our head Web guru at Hopkins, Sid Chadda, is leading a group that is discussing implementing new standards for the Web pages here at Hopkins. At our last meeting we discussed Web standards compliance on our site. Few of our current pages validate to any current HTML spec and don’t come anywhere near Section 508 compliance. The group agreed that better attention to standards should be a priority for future Web development.
Soon after that meeting I saw an article at A List Apart called Retooling Slashdot With Web Standards. I don’t think I’ve seen a better example of recoding an existing site. I’m inspired to take a stab at redoing one of our pages.
